Canard à sourcil

 Anas superciliosa
Anseriformes - Anatidae

 Pacific black duck
A common species in Australia with dark plumage and the head barred with light and dark stripes. This sociable species is easily found in the company of other ducks, mainly mallards.

The dam was covered with the very pretty Water Snowflakes:

  2. That is a lovely duck. It looks as though it is related to the mallard. I love seeing fauna and flora from Australia, it is all so different from that seen in Europe.

  7. I remember this duck well from Australia. If found in a park it was very confiding and readily took food from humans; in the wild, however, it was very wary. Not unlike Mallards, huh?
