La danse du Flambé dans la lavande

Iphiclides podalirius
Lepidiptera -  Papilionidae

Enfin les voilà, ils ont mis le temps! Je commençais à désespérer de les voir mais depuis 3 jours la lavande s'est animée joyeusement!

Scarce swallowtail
I was beginning to despair seeing those beauties but at last a couple of them showed up in our lavender.

Argynnis paphia
Nymphalidae

  1. Beautiful butterfly pics.
I love swallowtails, and I love lavender.
    Fortunately, I've got both.
Butterflies are plentiful down by the river,
    but only on rare occasions
    are we visited by Monarchs!

  5. Wow, brilliant photos. There is nothing that says southern Europe to me more than a Scarce Swallowtail on Lavender! They are really spectacular butterflies. The Silver Washed Fritillary is beautiful, too. I have never been lucky enough to see one!!

  18. Beautiful Scarce Swallowtail Noushka.
I have seen them in Tuscany where they were so common I got fed up with photographing them after a few days. I wish that was the case here.
Your male SW Fritillary is great. They are flying in some numbers in my area now thank goodness.
    Cheers.

  19. Wonderful shots. Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is common here at this time of year, but I recently saw my first ever Giant Swallowtail. And then I saw two in the same day!
