It struck me as rather scary and intimidating how the male wraps his abdomen around the female's head. Now I know way more about dragonfly anatomy than I ever thought I needed to know! LOL So now I'm trying to imagine how the dragons in Game of Thrones would mate. They could potentially could make some fiery wheels in the sky. I know ~ reptiles not insects, but what great cinematography! Have a great Wednesday! They are a rare migrant to UK, with the first being recorded in 1995.

If I was to make a guess at the sex of your first "Male of female??", I would say male as I think I can see its secondary genitalia - I assure you it's only something I look at in dragonflies - wouldn't want you to think I was a voyeur!!! I suspect that last one might also be a male as I see no vulvular scale (there I go again!), which is usually nearly perpendicular to the abdomen according to my book, and is clearly visible in your image of the mature female.

Wonderful stuff - keep it coming!

With my very best wishes. Take good care - - - RichardRichard Peglerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05115206853645323899noreply@blogger.com
