Faisan de colchide

Phasianus colchicus
Galliformes - Phasianidae

Common pheasants are not always easy to photograph, some are very shy and fly off...

...others crouch in the corn fields trying to become invisible:

The pictures are so much nicer when a subject like this is in full sun!

  1. Coucou Noushka,

  4. Hi Noushka,
Lovely pictures, particularly in the sun. Pheasants are very common here with hundreds of the poor things released to be shot. They are so clueless that many of them are run over on the roads and they are so tame that you would have to be a very bad shot to miss one. I don't approve!!

  5. Good job, Noushka, capturing these wonderful closeups.
How did you ever sneak up on these beautiful pheasants?
I was once invited to join in on a pheasant hunt -- OMG,
can you imagine? How could anyone shoot such a beautiful
creature? (or any animal for that matter.)

Gros bisous.

  7. Dearest Noushka,
Oh that brings back fond memories of my Mom. Dad had established quite a wood garden where lots of bridal pictures got taken over the years, with a romantic pond and bridge... There lived always some pheasants and they fed them corn. Such a joy till the new development happened and he had to sell almost all of his land for having homes and more homes built. The entire habitat for wildlife as we knew it while growing up and still for many decades, vanished...
Sad fact but that's life. You made some glorious pictures in full sunlight.
As to your question, yes, luckily since my Birthday on the 6th, I have been without this excruciating pain! So happy and now trying hard to catch up on loads of work.
Sending you hugs and blessings for the last weekend of February already...

  8. Hello Noushka. Amazing photos of pheasant. We too had a home in the yard of pheasants but they disappeared somewhere. The beasts or disease destroyed them. Have a nice weekend.

  14. Hello Noushka!:)
As always you give us a beautiful creature to look at. Lovely shots of the Common Pheasant,.. I love the graceful flight shot!:) I have seen them in the UK, wandering along a country road, and sitting on a wall, but never here. Their beautiful coloured plumage is a gift to all who see them.
    Warm Regards.
