Crave à bec rouge

 Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax

Red-billed chough

If the species is gregarious, the individual is faithful to its partner and its breeding site; it eats invertebrates such as ants, small insects and spiders, fruits and berries.
Their loud cries can be heard from afar so their arrival does not go unnoticed! For more photos and details see here.

  3. A great series of images, Noushka! For many of us, exposing an all-black bird properly is challenging. Naturally, you have no problem at all!

The photographs from the link to your 2017 post were also amazing. Poor birds must have a difficult time getting a drink of water with that narrow bill.

Gini and I hope you are healthy and happy! We are!!

  11. Hi Noushka,
What a coincidence. I recently saw this bird in Kirgistan. There seem to be different subspecies but I don't see any difference. Beautiful birds ánd pictures by the way.

  14. Hi Carine
How beautiful are these birds! They look like the black birds we have here in Brazil, but without the red bill.
    Have a nice week there!
