Pour ceux qui connaissent la réserve ornitho, il se passe presque toujours quelque chose au 20 - où l'on peut photographier le Martin pêcheur occasionnellement - mais souvent,  aigrettes et Hérons cendrés se tiennent dans la lagune de droite au fond et y prennent leur bain. La distance est grande, très juste avec mon 500 mm pour des photos d'une excellente netteté et je voulais tester le 800 mm sur une telle distance. Le challenge particulier ici était la blancheur du plumage et ajoutait à la difficulté de prendre bien net. J'ai donc carrément sous-exposé à -2, ce qui m'a permis une vitesse supérieure sans augmentation des ISOs, toujours en automatiques et en mode manuel.

At the Teich bird preserve on the Atlantic coast, most of the time there will be birds at hide 20 - where the kingfisher can be photographed at the right season - and often egrets and Grey herons fly into the most distant lagoon and bathe there. The distance is quite significant - and frustrating! -, and hardly manageable with my 500  mm lens for a decent focus so I wanted to test the 800 mm on such a distance. The particular challenge here was the whiteness of the Egret's plumage which added to the difficulty. Thus, I under-exposed to -2 which allowed me a superior speed without increasing the ISOs, as usual on automatic and in the manual mode.

 Toujours à la réserve ornitho du Teich à la fin de l'automne dernier; cet oiseau très commun mais si gracieux nous a gratifié de son arrivée puis de son envol élégants. En sous-exposant, on obtient le détail de son plumage et un fond sombre qui la met bien valeur:

 Still at le Teich bird preserve, in the end of last fall, this bird favoured us with an elegant landing and take off. An under exposure got the plumage details out and a dark background emphasising its beauty:

Ambiance au DDO

Le 12 de ce mois le soleil étant de la partie, nous décidons de nous rendre à Mazères au DDO, Domaine des Oiseaux. La récolte photographique a été plutôt faible, peu d'oiseaux se sont approchés de nous. Voici toutefois celle qui est venue de plus près, la Bergeronnette grise:

This 12th of december the sun was shining so we decided to spend the day around the bird sanctuary I already talked about in previous posts, the DDO. Few birds came close only this White wagtail:
