RÂLE à BEC JAUNE

Bonjour les ami(e)s!
Hello dear friends!

Black crake

Back for a month in Africa - Botswana and Kenya - 2 wonderful stays!
As always... Africa never disappoints!
Here is a bird of the
Rallidae family, not so simple to approach except by canoe but it not easy because the lake Baringo (Kenya) can get a little rough for bird photography from a boat!
As usual, I like to present the best photos possible and learn about each species so I can share info and obs with you.

Amaurornis flavirostra

This common species appreciates freshwater marshes of all types, with vegetation to provide cover and breeding. Being unpalatable, this bird is luckily safe from hunters!

Many thanks for your faithful visits on my blog, I will visit yours ASAP!

  6. Hi Noushka,
And welcome back from your African adventures.
I'm sure we are in for some superb posts, something to look forward to.
Like all Rails they are always such a nervous bird and so difficult to get images from even from in a hide, the slightest movement and they are back into the reeds.
    All the best, John

  9. Two months in Africa, Noushka ~ Carine! I'm so glad that you were able to spend this time in Kenya and Botswana! I'm also glad to see that you are home safely. Thanks for sharing these photos of the shy black crake. You are definitely a hunter ~ in the best way! I'm am looking forward to seeing more photos of your adventure. We're likely moving to Nevada sometime this summer. We've been hunting for a house. No luck yet. We'd be on the southwest side of Las Vegas in Henderson. It's just one of the things that has made this year a crazy year so far. I am excited about being close to Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area which is filled with geological wonders and is biologically diverse. Take care! Big hugs to you!
