(Pinarochroa sordida), also known as the Alpine chat or Hill chat, is a species of songbird in the Old World flycatcher family.
It is endemic to north-east Africa where it is common in its habitat. It lives at high altitudes on moors and grassland, usually between 2,100 m (6,900 ft) and 3,400 m (11,100 ft). It has a short tail with large white bands on either sides and long legs.
Although it has been seen a few months ago, Adrien Lesaffre and myself were the first to take pictures of this interesting bird in October 2022, thanks to our guide Museyen Turke.
It is mainly white with few black feathers on the wings and tail and the belly is slightly brownish. Legs and beak are yellow.
Leucism is a wide variety of conditions that result in the partial loss of pigmentation in an animal causing white, pale, or patchy coloration of the skin, hair, feathers, scales, or cuticles, but not the eyes.
