J'ai passé une journée au Domaine des Oiseaux le 31 août, histoire de voir si des migrateurs étaient arrivés, mais pas encore. Il s'est vu 2 Cigognes noires pendant 2 pou 3 jours mais pas quand j'y étais... dommage! Par contre, cette Cigogne blanche m'a permis un cliché inhabituel et original!

I decided to spend a whole day at the bird sanctuary at Mazères - Ariège, to see if migratory birds had eventually arrived, but not yet. Some saw 2 Black storks that remained 2 or 3 days but I didn't see them. Anyway, this bird gave me the opportunity of an unusual pic...

Elle a crée ce mur d'eau éphémère mais magnifique... qui peut en faire autant?

Et en plus elle a fait cela sans le savoir!!

Le Héron cendré et la Cigogne blanche

Les deux oiseaux étaient un peu loin malgré une focale de 700 mm (500 mm + convert 1/4) mais ces 3 images traduisent un belle ambiance et une entente pacifique entre les deux espèces qui chassent et pêchent les mêmes proies.

A White stork and a Grey heron seem to get along well although they hunt and fish the same prey. The birds were a little far away but I appreciated the ambiance:

Ailleurs, ce beau mâle adulte est en pleine méditation et garde un oeil sur son territoire!

A la réserve ornitho du Teich au printemps, cette cigogne est venue chercher une boule d'herbes sèches pour étoffer son nid alors qu'elle avait déjà des jeunes:

In spring at Le Teich bird reserve, this White stork came to collect a heap of dry grass to strengthen her nest although it already had young:

C'est une espèce d'oiseaux endémique d'Australie, répandu dans tout le Nord, l'Est et le sud-ouest; on ne le trouve pas en Tasmanie. Il vit dans les marais, les prairies et à proximité des villes, dans les parcs municipaux où il se nourrit de petits invertébrés aquatiques.

Australian white ibis,

 a wading bird widespread across much of eastern, northern and south-western Australia. Its sister species is the sacred ibis. It occurs in marshy wetlands, often near open grasslands and has become common in Australian east-coast city parks. The most favoured foods are crayfish and mussels, which the bird obtains by digging with its long bill.
