Une grande partie de la France continentale, mais absent du bassin aquitain et du massif armoricain.
Il existe 6 sous-espèces avec une assez grande variabilité dans les taches ailaires; certaines ont un large anneau rouge à l'abdomen

Well, it seems this diurnal moth does not have a vernacular name in English strangely! It is found in most of Europe, except northern Scandinavia; the spots can vary quite a bit within the group of the 6 Zygaenidae sub-species and some have a wide red ring around the abdomen.
