Sitta europaea
Passeriformes - Sittidae
Eurasian nuthatch
What gets the nuthatches going? Peanuts of course!
They are at least 3 or 4 to come, sometimes I see 3 at once but they never stay long enough for me to take decent shot :(
They are bullies towards one another and towards other species unless they are in a hurry!
If you think you're seeing double well you're not... Nathalie (Bioclicetphotos) has taken her pictures at my place, you can see here nice shots if you follow the link above.

RépondreSupprimerHi Noushka, they must have been very happy with the peanuts. They are very cute, how nice if can touch them with our hands.
RépondreSupprimerNoushka Je ne ai jamais vu de si belles photos, s vu cet arbre vigne.

RépondreSupprimerExcelentes fotos, Noushka. Mi felicitación.
RépondreSupprimerGracias por compartirlas con nosotros.
Saludos.
Handsome nuthatch. Looks very spry.
RépondreSupprimerAbsolutely fantastic photos of the nuthatch, we have a very similar nuthatch, Sitta canadensis, so cute and energetic. I don't get to see them in their habitat though, like your photographs. I'm impressed that when they land on the deck that they walk on their long claws, up off the wood.
RépondreSupprimerFantastic pictures again. We have Nuthatches here now. They moved reached here about five years ago. We don't get them in our garden, but my father has them coming to his peanuts a few miles south of here.

RépondreSupprimerI love these beautiful birds, which are often seen upside down. Regards.
RépondreSupprimerNuthatches are wonderful little birds to watch. As I write this note a White-breasted Nuthatch is on one of my feeders. And what is it feeding on? Peanuts of course!
Cdlt, M.
