Picus viridis
Piciformes - Picidae
European green woodpecker
You will recall easily this male I recently published who comes regularly on the lawn but never in the right place at right time! Well it seem tables have turned in my favor with the recent couple of snow falls... He was back sending swirls of snow to find ants. He arrives with his loud laughing call and perches on a tree nearby to evaluate an eventual danger and when all is clear, he dives to the ground without waisting a sec!

RépondreSupprimerWhat incredible snow photos with this wood pecker!
Sending you hugs and blessings with sunshine,

It is a brilliant bird Noushka, the green woodpecker, occasionally he comes also in our garden, but it's been a while since. Splendid plates with the characteristic behaviour of this Woodpecker.

Stunning photo's Noushka. And did he find some ants?
RépondreSupprimerI'm already glad when I sometimes see such a woodpecker. You show us here the bird in the snow. Probably quite rare. You obviuosly managed to find a good position to make these pics.
RépondreSupprimerHello Noushka, somehow I've missed this serie before, but am lucky to find out about them now.
RépondreSupprimerThey're marvellous. This very beautiful bird looks even more beautiful and colourful in this snowy environment. It seems to enjoy the snowflakes! Super series.
Best regards, Corrie
