Follow-up of this post.
First a few more flowers one can discover in the Pyrenean mountains, each one is a beauty!

Photos: Sigma Macro 150 mm

Les Myosotis - Forget-me-nots

Orchis tacheté - Heath spotted-orchid
Dactylorhiza maculata

Raiponce globulaire
Phyteuma orbiculare

Trèfle - Clover

Oeillet à delta - Pyrenean carnations
Dianthus deltoides

Leucorrhinia dubia
Odonata - Leucorrhinia

Another dragon we look for each year in these altitude peat bogs: the Small White face. The first glance at the species is the sight of 3 males entangled together in the reeds. This frenzy is due to the lack of females at this given time of day which is mid-morning.

Finally we manage to spot 2 females (in the 6 hours we spent on the spot!), this is 'mine':

Males are starting to feel tired and rest for a while on grass blades an eye on eventual females; they are so much shaper than us to spot them!

The best for last with a mating wheel in a pine tree around the dam.

  1. Magnifiques tes photos, Noushka !

  14. Dearest Noushka,
Lovely photos and I love forget-me-nots, those are so pretty. We did spot them growing in the wild on Mackinac Island but with my iPhone (when I got of the horse carriage and into the woods) I by far did not capture such quality photos... Surprisingly beautiful flora and those dragon flies are photographed perfect. What amazed me most is how the female clamps her 'hands' around the male body!
    Hugs and happy Sunday.
