ou Aigle pêcheur d'Afrique
Haliaeetus vocifer
Haliaeetus vocifer

African fish eagle
When this bird prepares to seize its fish, it arrives above the water surface facing the wind so that it can regain height easily, especially when the prey is heavy.
Fish are its favourite prey especially for those living near large water bodies but more in the land these eagles do not neglect carrion and any other suitable prey.
WOW!!!!!!! Stunning images of this magnificently powerful-looking eagle, Carine. I think that your lead-in/fourth image is my favourite, however. I hope that all is well with you, and you are keeping warm. My very best wishes - - - Richard
RépondreSupprimerHi Noushka,
RépondreSupprimerSuperb set of images of the Fish Eagle, what a magnificent bird with such a wingspan.
It certainly appears to be a good fisherman with its catches which appear to be catfish.
Hope you are keeping warm.
All the best, John
Eagle hunting and pictures delight me :)

Nothing can beat the African Fish Eagle, that call just sends shivers down my spine. I have always said I want to come back to this world as a Perigrine falcon but I will also happily return as an African Fish Eagle 😉 Fabulous ohotos one and all. Have a good day, warm hugs Diane

RépondreSupprimerMagnificent photos, Noushka. The African Fish Eagle has such beautiful feathers and powerful legs. The poor fish would never know what hit is.

There is a population of African Fish Eagles in Ethiopia that has taken to capturing Greater Flamingoes, seemingly as a prefered prey. Happy birthday, Carine!
RépondreSupprimerDearest Noushka,
RépondreSupprimerHow clever those African Fish Eagles are for using the natural 'lift off' from the wind!
You show us excellent action photos and amazing how they can hold on to a larg fish with even one claw.
Thanks for bringing incredible images to your readers.
Hugs,
Mariette
