Domaine des Oiseaux

Dimanche 26 mars 2017

If the morning was quiet, in the afternoon it was different story...
People everywhere so the birds tkept out of reach for the lens!
And no Roe deer around!
Few pics but here is what I saw:

Chevalier cul-blanc - Green sandpiper
Tringa ochropus

Chevalier guignette - Common sandpiper
 Actitis hypoleucos

Chevalier combattant - Ruff
Philomachus pugnax

 Himantopus himantopus

The Stilts have arrived but the water levels are so high that all is flooded and mating scenes are difficult to observe.... Yes David! LOL!!

Podiceps cristatus

A couple of Crested grebes were present but the sun light was too harsh for nice pics:

It is rare to come to this site without seeing a few Greylag geese, they were chasing each other over nesting sites.

Pica pica
Les Pies aussi sont très occupées!

Magpies too are quite busy building!

  3. Pity about the deer but you got some great bird shots. I am not a fan of magpie's but they really are very pretty birds. Hope your next visit will have less people around. Take care and have a good week hugs Diane

  4. Hi Noushka, some wonderful images of the Shovelers, such a colourful duck. The Green and Common Sandpipers are great shots. We have Magpies nesting down the side of our land not far from the Barn Owl boxes which I am hoping have returned and taken up residence, we have seen nothing of the Kestrels for days. Have a good rest of the week. All the best John

  8. Dearest Noushka,
Sorry that you did not encounter what you had hoped for but still you yielded some beautiful images of life around the water.
Even birds fight about nesting spots, competition like among humans.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette
